Carlton is an experienced psychotherapist. He has been licensed as a Clinical Social Work License in the State of Georgia (License #1456) since 1991 He is also Licensed as an LICSW/PIP in the State of Alabama (LICSW #4454C effective 3/2020). Carlton attended Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Indiana for two years before transferring to the University of Georgia in 1979. Carlton earned a Bachelor of Social Work Degree (1983) and a Master of Social Work Degree (1987) from the University of Georgia. He completed a Social Work Fellowship at the University of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Adolescent Clinic as part of an Interdisciplinary Training Project. Carlton has served on the Allied Medical Staff of a variety of hospitals in the Atlanta Area. Prior to entering private practice in 1995 Carlton worked for a variety of Public and Private Mental Health Agencies, where he worked as a staff psychotherapist. He also held full-time positions in several Hospital Emergency Departments as their Emergency Mental Health/Substance Abuse Evaluator. Carlton is also an accomplished lecturer and writer.
